Love Like Laurie is now a charity
When I created the Love Like Laurie brand last year, I dreamed it could be more. I always wanted it to be bigger and eventually give back. I just didn't know how or when.
In June 2020, a good friend and teammate approached our son Blake about doing an ultra-run to raise money for our family. Laurie said people had done enough for us. She did not want to accept another dollar.
It was then that I realized the new direction for Love Like Laurie. If Laurie didn't want the donations, we would start a charitable organization. We decided it would be called "Love Like Laurie Legacy." We will now give back what so many generous people gave to Laurie and our family.

Thanks to some generous memorial donations, we have an excellent start to the Love Like Laurie Legacy. That said, additional funds will be required if we are to continue to give in the future.
With that in mind, we are proud to announce that the inaugural fundraising event for Love Like Laurie Legacy is a virtual 5K run. This event will take place the weekend of Oct 3/4. While we mere mortals are running a 5K, Mark will be running the 150 miles from Duluth, MN to St. Paul, MN. He plans to arrive at the University of St. Thomas campus on Sunday October 4th.

SCHOLARSHIPS
In the spring 2021, Love Like Laurie Legacy will give at least two scholarships to Prior Lake High School seniors who's lives have been touched by cancer. Additional criteria is being established now and applications will be provided via the PLHS guidance office.
The plan is that the scholarships will be offered to graduating seniors each year. In addition, we hope to offer more donations. Since the organization is just getting started, please continue to check this website for announcements.
2021 SCHOLARSHIP UPDATE
After a lengthy conversation, the Love Like Laurie Legacy board of Directors decided to award a scholarship to each of the eight Prior Lake High School applicants. The total amount awarded was $2750. The board ultimately decided that each applicant has his/her own cancer journey. Each one tragic and deserving in its own way.
